What to Watch in Theaters This Week

five nights at freddy's movie

It’s not always easy to find out which movies are hitting theaters each week, especially as the Hollywood strikes led to many release date changes. With the WGA strike resolved and awards season heating up, there are more dramas and prestige productions in theaters for the next few months. October’s scary releases are well under way, while November and December should see family-friendly films and crowdpleasers for the holidays.

Josh Hutcherson stars in “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” the adaptation of the horror video game known for its creepy animatronics, premiering this Friday. Also premiering this week is action comedy “Freelance,” featuring John Cena and Alison Brie. Limited releases of the Paul Giamatti-led “The Holdovers” and science fiction romance “Fingernails,” starring Jessie Buckley, Riz Ahmed and Jeremy Allen White, can be seen in theaters this week as well.

Check back each week to find the latest releases in theaters, from big-budget wide releases to niche independent titles.
