Francesca Corney (The Buccaneers), Nicholas Duvernay (Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living) and Arnas Fedaravičius (The Last Kingdom) have joined the Season 3 cast. Charlotte Le Bon is joining the HBO anthology’s third season, replacing Francesca Corney.

Update 9th February

Julian Kostov (Shadow and Bone) has been cast in Season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus. The Bulgarian actor will play a recurring Russian character, replacing Miloš Biković who had been originally cast in the role. The Serbian-Russian actor exited the project on Friday following criticism from Ukraine.

Scott Glenn is the latest actor to board Season 3 of Mike White‘s HBO series The White Lotus.

The White Lotus has added Lisa, one of the members of K-pop girl group Blackpink, to its Season 3 cast. Lisa will be credited under her given name, Lalisa Manobal, on the series.

HBO has partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to support the filming and production of the season.

“We are honored to have amazing Thailand featured as the filming location for the highly anticipated upcoming season of The White Lotus,” said Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. “The kingdom’s exotic natural beauty, rich historical sites and diverse landscapes are the perfect settings to share our fascinating culture, fantastic cuisine, top-notch wellness and luxury offerings, and most importantly our people and Thai hospitality. Thailand has long been considered one of the world’s favorite filming locations. The White Lotus project will certainly strengthen the kingdom’s status as a preferred filming destination and a beacon of experience-based tourism, inspiring even more visitors to amazing Thailand.”

In keeping with tradition, character details are being kept under wraps. Season one was set in Hawaii and earned 10 Emmys, while season two moved to Sicily and is nominated for 23 Emmy nominations including best drama. White created the series and exec produces alongside David Bernad and Mark Kamine.

“We are pleased to partner with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to execute Mike’s creative vision and showcase all that the beautiful country of Thailand has to offer, as the next group of guests check in to the White Lotus,” said Janet Graham Borba, exec vp production at HBO & Max.

Production & Filming

Production has officially begun in Thailand as Max shared a photo on social media on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, teasing the shoot. “Unforgettable experiences are in the making at #TheWhiteLotus. We are eager to welcome new guests to our resort in Thailand,” wrote the StreamOnMax account on X, formerly known as Twitter. The caption accompanies the image of a clapperboard designating the season’s Thailand-based story and production with the resort logo.

It’s official: Carrie Coon is headed to Thailand.

The Gilded Age star is extending her relationship with HBO and has formally closed a deal to join the season 3 cast of The White Lotus.

Set to begin production next month in and around Koh Samui, Phucket and Bangkok, the third installment of creator/showrunner Mike White’s anthology will be set at another White Lotus property. In keeping with tradition, details of Coon’s role are being kept under wraps.

Coon joins a rapidly growing cast that includes previously announced stars Natasha Rothwell (who reprises her role) and franchise newcomers Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell and Tayme Thapthimthong.

Mike White‘s The White Lotus is rounding out its Season 3 cast with Milos Bikovic (South Wind), Christian Friedel (The Zone of Interest), Morgana O’Reilly (Neighbours), Lek Patravadi and Shalini Peiris (The Arc) in the Thailand-set new installment.

HBO’s ‘The White Lotus’ Eyes February Start Of Production As Casting On Season 3 Begins

Mike White’s The White Lotus is not wasting any time ramping up for Season 3. On Nov. 9, the very day the SAG-AFTRA strike ended at 12:01 AM, the Emmy-winning HBO anthology series started casting for its upcoming third installment by releasing a list of the new characters. Filming is tentatively slated to begin in early February in Thailand, sources said.

Once again, The White Lotus will feature a sprawling, multi-generational cast. Thirteen roles are currently casting, nine of them series regulars — ranging in ages between 18-80s — with a patriarch, a corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, a misfit and a yogi among the bunch, I hear.

Last week, The White Lotus creator Mike White provided a status update on Season 3, which is expected to debut in 2025, sharing his hope to start filming “at the beginning of the year.”

“I’m seriously finishing scripts,” White said at the time of the new installment whose writing was interrupted by the work stoppage.

“It’s going to be a supersized White Lotus,” White said of Season 3. “It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing.”

Episodes and airing

It is unclear whether this means that the number of episodes would increase again after going up from 6 in Season 1 to 7 in Season 2

Originally targeted for 2024, Season 3 is “likely moving into 2025” due to the strikes, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max, said earlier this month.

Setting

“The White Lotus” is heading to Thailand, multiple sources close to the production tell Variety. During interview for the finale episode of Season 2, Asia is one of the potential settings for the third season of The White Lotus. Creator Mike White also said: “Whereas the first two seasons were about money and sex, Season 3 might be a kind of satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.”

Did The White Lotus‘ Season 3 Location Just Get Spoiled by Johnny Knoxville?!

In an interview with Vulture, Johnny Knoxville — of all people — shared that he would love to be in the Season 3 cast of HBO’s luxury hotel dramedy, and he ended up sharing a lot more than that. “Mike White is a very close friend of mine,” the Jackass and Reboot alum said, adding, “He and I had been in Tokyo together. I think that’s where the next… oh, I’m not giving anything away. I might call him again as soon as this is over.”

HBO series’ executive producer David Bernad confirmed the news here at the Berlinale Series Market in Germany this morning.

“We’ve tried to work in Asia a lot and hopefully season three will be our chance to make something happen there,” he said during a keynote chat.

Next stop for HBO’s “The White Lotus” series could be Australia, creator Mike White said

Since it premiered in 2021, the show has moved around the globe. Season one was set in Hawaii, the second in Italy’s Sicily, and the third leg is now is being produced in Thailand.

White made his remarks while taking part in a Sydney, Australia, festival with the show’s star, Jennifer Coolidge. He spoke about filming a potential season Down Under during a press conference on Saturday morning.

“My dream would be to hit every continent, so yeah, this is like its own continent, basically,” he said. “We kind of have to come to Australia if we keep going.

“It would be so fun. Obviously, there’s a huge wealth of talent here and the beauty is inarguable, so it feels like it checks all the boxes.”

Also discussed: a possible prequel series centred around Coolidge’s character, Tanya McQuoid.

“I absolutely think that’s possible, we were just talking about that,” White said. “It’s a funny idea. And making Jennifer, you know, 20 years younger, that would be fun too. I think Jennifer’s like, ‘Sure, let’s do it!’.”

When asked where she would want the series to take place, Coolidge said, “Australia gets my vote.”

Nicole Mossbacher will not be checking back into The White Lotus after all.

TVLine has learned exclusively that franchise alum Connie Britton — who starred in the HBO dramedy’s breakout first season as the aforementioned high-powered CFO — will not be returning for the Thailand-set third season.

“She would love to do another season of The White Lotus at some point, but she is not participating in the upcoming season,” Britton’s spokesperson confirms.

Natasha Rothwell Returning for Season 3 as Belinda

Season 1 White Lotus fave Natasha Rothwell is returning to the franchise in Season 3. But at least one big question remains: Who is she playing?

An HBO spokesperson confirmed to TVLine that Rothwell — who earned an Emmy nomination for her work in the first season of Mike White’s Emmy-winning satire  — will appear in the upcoming third season. But the rep declined to reveal whether she will be reprising her role as spa manager Belinda or playing a new character. UPDATERothwell has confirmed that she will indeed be playing Belinda.

Sydney Sweeney on potential The White Lotus Season 3 Return

Mike White says an ‘all-star season’ would be ‘fun’

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about season 2 of his Emmy-winning HBO drama, White discussed the possibility of bringing characters back in future seasons. “It would be easy to just be full-on anthology, but I think it’s more fun to have little threads through the show,” he said. “If the show goes on for a couple of seasons, it would be fun to have an all-star season.”

Though it would be tough for Jennifer Coolidge’s fan-favorite Tanya — may she rest in watery peace — to make a comeback, there is one character already set for a season 3 return. “Belinda is back, baby!” tweeted season 1 star Natasha Rothwell in April, when news of her casting broke. Connie Britton told Deadline last year that she and White have discussed a possible season 3 appearance for her character as well.

White also hinted to Esquire earlier this year that Greg could also make a comeback.

“I think as far as like, what happens to Greg and the conspiracy of Tanya’s death, it’s possible that I think Portia is scared enough to just leave it alone. But the fact that all of those guys die on the boat, it feels like there’s gotta be somebody who’s gonna track it back down to Greg. But maybe you’ll have to wait to find out what happens.”

Jennifer Coolidge Wants Tanya’s Husband to Die in a ‘Meat Grinding Machine’ in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3

Jennifer Coolidge will not be starring in “The White Lotus” Season 3, as series creator Mike White killed off her beloved character Tanya is the finale of the second season, but that doesn’t mean she’s ready for Tanya’s story to end. Tanya’s husband, Greg (Jon Gries), is still alive after trying to orchestrate her death in Italy in a power move to inherent her fortune.

During a conversation with “The Bear” star Jeremy Allan White as part of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, Coolidge revealed she wants Greg back for “The White Lotus” Season 3 so that Tanya can indirectly get her revenge.

“My hope for Jon is that he’s not finished with Greg,” Coolidge said. “I hope there’s some comeuppance for evil Greg. I think he should, I don’t know, end up in a meat-grinding machine.”

After realizing Greg’s murderous plan, Tanya went on a shooting spree aboard a yacht and killed the group of gays that she Greg had hired to kill her. She fell overboard and died after trying and failing to get to safety after the rampage.

“Mike was looking for a big Italian opera ending, and it was big and dramatic, so he wanted me to die for many reasons,” Coolidge said. “But I also think Tanya’s a lot. Maybe people would get sick of her on another season. Maybe people would be like, ‘Oh, my God. Get rid of Tanya!’”

MikeWhite did get rid of Tanya, and now Coolidge wants him to get rid of Greg in Season 3.

“If Tanya could come back in any form, maybe she could come back as a seagull and poke Greg’s eyes out,” Coolidge said.

Will Theo James and Sabrina Impacciatore return for season 3?

“He wrote me (a letter) and said I want to work with you again,” said Impacciatore about an exchange with White, however, she doesn’t know if that’s in another series or another season of White Lotus.

Talking about his suave character who we’re led to believe possibly had an affair with Cameron’s wife, Harper (Plaza), James explained, “I felt like I knew the character endemically, and I knew a way to play both his repellent and repulsive elements, and his charming and elusive parts.”

“He wants to disrupt everyone around him, but he particularly wants to disrupt Ethan, and he wants to push his own moral boundaries and what’s right and wrong at all times. He’s goading others around him to be pushed out of their comfort zone.”

Adds James on what the White Lotus universe can bloom, “The nice thing about Mike is that he’s created a continuing world where these characters can interact in the future.”

Will Meghann Fahy return for season 3?

“She keeps doing what’s she’s doing,” Fahy told Deadline at the Sundance studio. Fahy tellsthat White has an idea for a future episode some time down the road involving the Sullivans, and the newlywed couple from season, the Pattons, played by Alexandra Daddario and Jake Lacy. Lacy shares with Deadline, “He (Mike White) did once say that he’d like to do an episode with Theo, me and the couple from the first season – Alex and Jake; the four of us on a boat. Just one episode of that.”
