The Walking Dead Spinoffs ‘Dead City’ & ‘Daryl Dixon’ Renewed for Season 2! – UPDATE

As part of San Diego Comic-Con, AMC Networks announced that The Walking Dead spinoffs Dead City and Daryl Dixon have both been renewed for season 2. 

“This next chapter in the Walking Dead Universe continues to thrive with a terrific inaugural season for Dead City and highly anticipated new journey for fan-favorite character Daryl Dixon coming in September. ” Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said. “We can’t wait to bring Dead City fans back to the epicenter of Manhattan for more zip-lining action with Maggie and Negan. And, ahead of its debut, we’re thrilled to double down on Daryl as we bring the apocalypse to France, transforming Notre Dame. Pont du Gard and other iconic locales into an apocalyptic landscape unlike anything we’ve seen before.”

‘The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’ Season 2 Adds Melissa McBride as Series Regular

As part of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon presence at New York Comic Con, it was announced that Melissa McBride will be a series regular in Season 2. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol is set to debut in 2024.

McBride is reprising her role as Carol Peletier, which she played for 11 seasons alongside Norman Reedus, in the spin-off set in France.

(She was originally set to star in the series from the beginning alongside Reedus.) This news comes ahead of the Daryl Dixon Season 1 finale on Sunday, October 15 at 9/7c on AMC and AMC+, in which she makes an appearance.

“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away,” McBride said in a statement. “Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!”

Manish Dayal Joins Season 2 Cast of Daryl Dixon

The Resident alum Manish Dayal has been tapped for a major recurring role in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon — The Book of Carol. The second season of the Norman Reedus TWD spinoff.

Dayal will play Ash, an engineer from Boston who moved to the family weekend house in Maine after the onset of the apocalypse. Ash lives by a strict schedule based mostly around his daily flights in a retrofitted single engine plane and mysterious visitations to his backyard greenhouse.

Dead City‘s first season follows Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) in post-apocalyptic Manhattan. Filled with the dead and denizens who have made it their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. Next up in The Walking Dead Universe is Daryl’s spinoff following him as he washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. Daryl Dixon tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.

Still ahead is the second half of the eighth and final season of Fear the Walking Dead as well as the spinoff starring Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira set to premiere in 2024.
