Can you tell us a bit about your character in Lessons in Chemistry?

Laurel Moore is sweet, pure, and loyal; she sees the best in people, almost to a fault.

What initially attracted you to your role in Lessons in Chemistry?

I instantly flocked to Laurel’s innocence, kindness, and people-pleasing abilities. She’s the type of person who wants to be one with the group and “behave” herself, but she has that little edgy streak… which was especially innovative for women at that time.

What do you think makes this show so special and captivating?

It’s so full of heart. We have a dog, we have adorable kids, we have a story about a nation of women who becomes empowered and inspired by the action’s of one brave soul. What’s not to love?

What do you hope audiences take away from watching Lessons in Chemistry?

A love story doesn’t have to look any which way: finding yourself, standing up to the unacceptable norm, and uplifting others in the process is about as happy an ending as one can get.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

We had instant chemistry, like we’ve known each other for years. I’m still on a group text chain with the other secretaries. Everyone was incredibly professional, passionate, and just grateful to be there to create this magical world together.

What can you tease about your character Journey?

Laurel helps her boyfriend uncover something important for Elizabeth Zott…

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming Lessons in Chemistry?

Moments before filming the pageant talent show, the director (Sarah Adina Smith) asked if I could improvise with a ventriloquist doll. Of course I immediately said yes – and proceeded to quickly Google what that even looked like. It was so much fun to come up with various funny moments in front of a room full of audience members.

Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while filming Lessons in Chemistry and how you overcame them?

The biggest challenge was staying Covid-free! I forced my family to isolate with me while filming because I didn’t want to take any risks. And we filmed my episodes over the course of two months!

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

Memorable projects include a short I created with my husband that won various awards, called Optimistic Realist. I also had a blast on a recent Wayfair commercial opposite Kelly Clarkson and will forever cherish playing the roles of Anne and Daphna in the staged productions of The Diary of Anne Frank and Bad Jews

Can you tease something about your next projects?

Look out for some funny “hot mess” characters in upcoming film festivals…!

“Lessons in Chemisty” Season 1 with Sigi Ravet is available on Apple TV Plus.
