NBC is staying put in the land(s) Down Under, having given an early Season 3 renewal to La Brea — just as the back half of Season 2 kicks off tonight at 9/8c, with back-to-back episodes.

TVLine hears that the initial Season 3 order is for just six episodes, though that could be increased down the road.

Through the first half of its 14-episode sophomore run, La Brea is averaging 5.4 million total weekly viewers and a 0.6 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), ranking seventh among all NBC dramas behind the mighty #OneChicago trio and the Law & Order franchise.

La Brea when it first bowed in September 2021 followed Eve Harris (Natalie Zea) and her son Josh (Jack Martin) as they and others who had toppled into a mysterious Los Angeles sinkhole navigated the strange world they had oh-so-gingerly landed in. Meanwhile, above ground, Eve’s estranged husband Gavin (Eoin Macken) and their daughter Izzy (Zyra Gorecki) tried to make sense of what happened. While also puzzling over how Gavin’s “visions” fit into it all.

When Season 2 resumes this Tuesday night, they will aim to breach the Lazarus Tower and upload Caroline’s computer virus that will stop all sinkholes. Despite knowing that this means they will never get home again. Sam and Riley, however, are resolved to squeezing in a trip back to present day L.A. before said portal gets shut down.

La Brea’ Season 3 Returns to Australia

NBC’s mystery-drama series “La Brea” will return to Australia for filming of its third season. Within the country, production will relocate from Victoria state to Queensland.

La Brea will contribute an estimated A$38 million ($25.1 million) to the Queensland economy, continue an employment pipeline for our esteemed crews and creatives, and showcase some of the Gold Coast and Scenic Rim’s stunning locations to a global audience,” said state Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk.

It is expected to employ 200 staff and use 300 local businesses. The production is expected to inject A$66 million ($43.6 million) into the national economy, a federal government statement said.

“Bringing productions like this to our shores means a whole lot of Australian jobs, as well as important opportunities for skills and training in the local screen industry,” said federal Minister for the Arts, Tony Burke. “It’s essential we continue to do that. That’s why as part of this year’s budget we’ve doubled the location offset rebate to 30%,”

Did Natalie Zea, Jack Martin and Veronica St Clair leave La Brea? None of them went to Australia to film Season 3.

TV Line can assure you that all three original cast members are back for Season 3 of NBC’s timey-wimey drama, which films both Australia and in Los Angeles.

La Brea’s Wildest Twist Yet? Here’s the Truth About That Mysterious Season 3 Cast Addition

Some La Brea fans nearly lost their sh… earlings when a BTS photo suggested a major recast for Season 3 the NBC sci-fi drama. But here is what we actually know about series newcomer Emily Wiseman.

Fans who follow the cast on social media got to speculating about a possible Eve recast in early June, when Eoin Macken, who plays Gavin, shared on Instagram a photo of him with Wiseman — who does not look dissimilar to series lead Natalie Zea! — and TV daughter Zyra Gorecki (Izzy), huddled inside a vehicle and looking very much like a close-knit fam.

When a follower asked in a reply about Eve/Zea’s apparent doppelgänger, Macken teased, “oh just wait and see…it’s gonna be….🫠😇😂.”

Fueling the recast theory were rumblings that Zea did not trek to Australia for Season 3, though the NBC series films in both the Land Down Under and Los Angeles.

Well, TVLine can now confirm that Wiseman is a recurring guest star for Season 3, which will span at least six episodes and is penciled in for a midseason/Q1 2024 bow on NBC. We can also report that Wiseman is not an Eve recast, though viewers will have to “wait and see” who she is playing.
