Good Trouble Renewed For Season 5!

The series’ fourth season kicked off in March with the exit of original cast member Maia Mitchell (who had played Callie since The Fosters), as well as costar Beau Mirchoff (aka Callie’s on-and-off love interest Jamie).

P.S. Former series regular Maia Mitchell, who plays Callie Adams-Foster, will return in a guest-star capacity during the upcoming run;

Mitchell explained to TVLine that the decision to leave the series was “completely a personal decision about my life”. About wanting to be closer to her family in Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic. “When you go through something like that, it just makes things really clear, and I just knew it was time and I had to just prioritize my family and my mental health. It was tough, though. Oh my gosh, it was a really hard decision, and it was a really tough, tough couple of episodes,” Mitchell shared.

In the wake of Mitchell and Mirchoff’s departures, Priscilla Quintana (Gael’s baby mama Isabella) was promoted to series regular. While Bryan Craig (Grand Hotel, General Hospital) joined the ensemble as Joaquin, an independent investigative journalist with a mysterious background. The Season 4 cast also includes returning stars Cierra Ramirez, Zuri Adele, Sherry Cola, Tommy Martinez, Emma Hunton and Josh Pence.

Any early intel on Good Trouble Season 5?

You may have noticed that showrunner Joanna Johnson let slip in our finale post mortem that Callie will not be happy with Mariana when she gets wind of her sister’s undercover mission in Season 5, so we had to ask: Does that mean we’ll get an update on what’s going on with Callie and/or Jamie in Washington next season? “Yes, that’s certainly the hope,” Johnsons said, but stopped short of revealing any more details.

Has there been any talk of an “end point”?

In a word, no. “Luckily, I haven’t been asked to write to a series finale yet,” showrunner Joanna Johnson shared. “I still think these characters have a lot of growing to do and they’re still in their 20s. They have a lot of discovery to do, and they have a lot of love to share with each other. And one of the themes of Season 5 is going to be sort of ‘lean on me,’ and how they lean on each other in times that are so uncertain. And that’s what I think is nice about this show. I think one of the reasons people want to tune in is ‘They want to see this chosen family, and they want to see them be there for each other.’“
