First Look at Holiday Comedy Candy Cane Lane, starring Eddie Murphy! – WATCH

Tracee Ellis Ross has signed on to star alongside Eddie Murphy in Candy Cane Lane — the new holiday comedy for Prime Video.

Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish) has signed on to star alongside Eddie Murphy in Candy Cane Lane — the new holiday comedy that Reginald Hudlin (Sidney) is directing for Prime Video. Candy Cane Lane is set to begin streaming globally December 1st.

Details as to the film’s plot are under wraps. But it’s currently in production in Los Angeles, as part of the California Film & Television Tax Credit Program. The project acquired as a spec is based on the childhood holiday experiences of its writer, Kelly Younger.

Tracee Ellis Ross Joins Holiday Comedy ‘Candy Cane Lane’!

An all-star ensemble is quickly taking shape for Eddie Murphy’s “Candy Cane Lane,” with six more players joining the cast.

Comedy veterans Robin Thede (“A Black Lady Sketch Show”), Nick Offerman (“Parks & Recreation,” “The Last of Us”) and Chris Redd (“Saturday Night Live,” “Bust Down”), plus rising talents Genneya Walton (“#BlackAF,” “The Resident”), Madison Thomas (“9-1-1”) and Thaddeus J. Mixson (“Reasonable Doubt,” “Creed III”) have signed onto the holiday movie.

On February 10 Deadline announced Ken Marino, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and D.C. Young Fly have boarded Prime Video’s holiday comedy.

Candy Cane Lane is the first film being made under a three-picture and first-look film deal between Murphy and Amazon Studios. The film will ultimately stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Murphy and Charisse Hewitt-Webster are producing for Eddie Murphy Productions, alongside Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder of Imagine Entertainment.


Based on the childhood holiday experiences of Kelly Younger, who penned the script, the film is about man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest. After Chris (Murphy) inadvertently makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning, she casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, and wreaks havoc on the whole town. At the risk of ruining the holidays for his family, Chris, his wife Carol (Ross), and their three children must race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.
