EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Star Megan Elizabeth Barker Teases Uptv’s “Love at the Lodge”!

Megan Elizabeth Barker and Marc Herrmann star in the brand new movie Love at the Lodge, premiering Sunday, October 29 at 8 PM on UPtv. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with star Megan Elizabeth Barker about her experience in the making of the movie Love at the Lodge and what fans can expect.

Can you tell us a bit about your character Emma?

She’s a feisty one! She’s passionate, driven, and hardworking. But she has lost herself in her work, and needs to find herself again. But through it all she’s a fighter.

What initially attracted you to the role of Emma in “Love at the Lodge”?

She was a woman who was confident in what she wanted in life and unashamed of what she wanted. And at the end of the day, what she wanted changed, and that was ok. Some people think that changing your mind makes you fickle, but I think she just understood that there is more to life and gave herself that grace.

What do you think makes the romance in the movie so special and captivating?

Neither her nor Liam were looking for love, it found them. She fell in love bit by bit, adventure by adventure. He didn’t win her heart through romantic gestures or proclamations of love, he did it by opening her eyes to all that she had closed herself off from. They each learned to live in the moment with each other.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching “Love at the Lodge ”?

Dreams change, plans change, and that’s ok. What matters is having people that love you and support you no matter what season of life you are in.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

Joyous,  Inspiring, and Professional! Everyone showed up loving what they do and being happy to do it. No one came in with ego, or attitude, and everyone wanted to have a great time. People showed up prepared and ready to work. You don’t get that on every set so it was really refreshing.

What can you tease about your character Journey?

There may or may not be bears 😉 Just kidding. For her, her journey is about learning that some of the best things in life are unplanned. And by trying to plan every single thing, you miss the small tiny moments that make life worth living.

What was your favourite scene or moment while filming “Love at the Lodge”?

So many to choose. I think it would be the moment where Liam drops me off at my cabin and we are both just feeling all of the effects of a great day together. The moment is so precious. We are so twitterpated and can’t even admit it.

Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while filming “Love at the Lodge” and how you overcame them?

You’ll notice a lot of rain.  But during one particular scene we got SOAKED. And we shot that scene at night. And it was COLD. We may have shot the movie in California, but with that desert climate, temps drop. But we made it through and said “so glad that’s over!” Only to be told that we had to reshoot the scene a few days later! Our amazing makeup and wardrobe team were waiting in the back with towels, robes, and blessedly warm heaters. Without them, it would have been miserable. But they made it bearable.

Change of Subject, what have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

This is such a difficult question! There are so many moments that have made me proud of how far I’ve come. I will always remember the first short film I shot. I will always remember my first TV appearance. I remember my first movie. And I remember all the incredible people that had enough faith in me to give me those opportunities. I have a secret bingo card where there are different genres of movies I want to do. For example, I got to be in a western, and my grandfather loved westerns. So that was a special moment for me. I’ve been in love, I’ve shot people, I’ve been a Jedi, I’ve solved mysteries. I am SO fortunate to have had so many wonderful opportunities.

Can you tease something about your next projects?

I would love to tease! But for now, there’s not much on the horizon. I have been striking in solidarity with SAG AFTRA. But I am always open to new opportunities. I’m a storyteller, so I look forward to the next story I get to tell.
