Jessica Morris, Gina Vitori, Lelia Symington and Isabella Mercurio star in the movie A Deadly Threat to my Family premiered on Lifetime Channel on Saturday May 4th, 2024 at 8/7c. We at Survived The Shows had the incredible chance to talk with star Lelia Symington, who teased the movie and her experience in A Deadly Threat to my Family. Check out the full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in A Deadly Threat to my Family?

My character Laurel thinks she has it all figured out. I think, like lots of people who join cults, she was looking for purpose and belonging and found it with “Aleph” And when Serena gets out I think it threatens Laurel’s whole world. So naturally she grips even tighter, and gets scary

What initially attracted you to your role in A Deadly Threat to my Family?

I’ve never played the antagonist in a movie before. I actually auditioned for Serena, I think we all did. But when they offered me Laurel I thought oh yes! It’s always the best as an actor to step outside yourself and take on something totally new. And I felt for my character, so I wanted to bring some humanity to the role.

What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?

I love that this movie is about four women trying to get to the truth. The fact that all those truths conflict makes it good TV. But they are all sympathetic in their own way. All of them complicated and interesting. Also, they did a great job building the suspense! I know what happens and I was still on the edge of my seat.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching A Deadly Threat to my Family?

I hope that people are thoroughly entertained by this movie, and that they come away with the inspiration to surround themselves with people who have their best interests at heart even when they don’t themselves.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

The best part of this movie was the cast, we all loved being together. We quickly found out we had so many small world connections and we just spent all our days on set laughing and chatting. The best set situation.

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming A Deadly Threat to my Family?

My favorite scene was the end when they finally go to the cult house and we are all dressed in the red robes. It just looks so scary and beautiful when you see all the women in the window! And when I confront Serena outside the house I just had a moment where I realized, oh Laurel isn’t being evil here, she’s hurt! Her friend left her. And it made it all make sense.

At Survived the Shows, we are big fans of Christmas comedies. What is your all-time favorite?

Ooh Christmas comedies! These are old classics, I always loved The Santa Clause and The Grinch. Pure Christmas joy.

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

One of the most memorable projects I’ve worked on is a film called Brut Force. My sister was the writer/director of this film and working with her on a film was the realization of so many little kid dreams. The New York Times wrote up the movie as one to watch the summer it premiered and it was so gratifying. Nothing like making good movies with your favorite people!

Can you tease something about your next projects?

My next project is hush hush but as soon as I can talk about it I will! So follow me on instagram @leliaskips for work/life updates!
