EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Star Christie Leverette Previews Tubi’s Killer Beat – WATCH

Stakiah Lynn Washington and Christie Leverette star in Killer Beat, a new, original movie premiered Thursday June 27th on Tubi Channel. We at Survived the Shows had the incredible chance to speak with star Christie Leverette, who teased Tubi’s Killer Beat and her experience in the movie. Check out the full interview in the video below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in Killer Beat?

So I’ll try to share without giving spoilers. So she works at Goldvolt Records, which is a record label. She has the desire to also transition from being behind the scenes to being in front of the scenes. She has the desire to be an artist one day. And, you know, I think they can appreciate her penmanship, but not quite. They don’t quite see the star quality she has. So she’s battling with constantly seeing other artists flourish while she’s also wanting to be in the spotlight at the same time. So it’s a struggle for her.

What initially attracted you to your role in Killer Beat?

Yeah, so I did a lot of praying on this role before I accepted it, but as somebody asked me this the other day, I’m like, who wouldn’t want to play a villain at some point? Or, you know, somebody that you may consider as the bad guy or, you know, what have you. But I think she’s a very relatable character. I think people have had something stolen from them, whether it’s creative work or, I don’t know, somebody stole my shoes or whatever. So I think it’s relatable on that aspect as well as heartbreak, whether that’s with a person or something you love to do. I think everybody’s experienced that. So I feel like she was a very relatable character and someone I wanted to. A character I wanted to explore.
