EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW – Sam Hennings Previews Netflix’s The Neon Highway! – WATCH

Premiering July 11th on Netflix is the movie The Neon Highway, starring Rob Mayes and Beau Bridges. We at Survived The Shows had the great pleasure of talking with actor Sam Hennings about his experience on the Netflix movie The Neon Highway and the challenges the role of ray gave him. Check out the full interview in the video below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in The Neon Highway?

As you say, I play the character of Ray, and you’re catching us when Bo and I are in the latter parts of our careers, years ago, he and I had, or actually, he had a band, and I was fortunate enough to participate in it as a guitar player, and he was the guitar player and the lead singer and had a huge amount of success. And as time went on, that success kind of faded away. And I have gotten out of the business and he’s gotten out of the business, and I’m now moved back to Nashville. I am living with my sister. Not literally living with her, but we own a Motels. There’s like twelve units and they’re very, very old, and it’s on the outskirts of Nashville and we’re barely surviving, but who cares, you know?

Beau’s character has, has pretty much given up the thoughts of being in the business.

And he has moved to his deceased parents farm in the upper parts of Tennessee and a young man comes who is the Internet computer technician for the company that serves his Internet because he’s having some problems with the Internet. And a young man comes to service it, and he recognizes Beau’s character. Oh, and this young man, by the way, is a wannabe singer and songwriter and was like 20 years ago and was on his way to a pretty good career, start of a good career. And then he had a car accident with his brother, and then that stopped that.

So he’s now working in the, in the civilian world. But anyhow, so he recognizes Beau’s character and it goes, oh, my God, you’re Claude Allen. You know, it’d be kind of like saying Willie Nelson today or Johnny Cash or something like that. And then the story goes from there. So I won’t. I can sit here and tell you the whole story, but that’s not the name of the game.

What initially attracted you to your role in The Neon Highway?

Well, the producer is a gentleman by the name of Stratton Leopold, who I’ve known for quite some time. The casting director is an iconic casting director by the name of Rick Pagano, who I’ve also known and worked for quite some time and they called me and sent me the script. The script, which was written by Bill Wages and Philip, who’s also the director and I read the script and it was just, the wording is just so fantastic in it that it just felt like a good glove. And so I immediately said, absolutely because of the script, but mainly because of my relationship with Stratton Leopold and Rick Pagano.
