Jessica Morris, Brittany McVicker and Phylip Boyd star in the movie Secret Life of Sorority Girl premiering on Lifetime Channel on Saturday April 6th, 2024 at 8/7c. We at Survived The Shows had the incredible chance to talk with star Phylip Boyd, who teased the movie and his experience in Secret Life of Sorority Girl. Check out the full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in Secret Life of a Sorority Girl?

I can tell you that Jake is a person that wrestles with wanting to do the right thing and protect the ones he loves. Working as a bartender in a strip club, Jake has some interesting people to deal with in his life and has probably had a few run ins with some shady people as well.

What initially attracted you to your role in Secret Life of a Sorority Girl?

One of the things that initially attracted me to this role was that I have spent many years of my life bartending in between acting roles, but I’ve never actually got to play one in the movies. The movie was shot in Louisville, KY and I love that city. I also love working with the director Damian Romay and this was another opportunity to work with him.

What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?

I think the twists and turns of the story keep the audience guessing “who done it” until the end.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching Secret Life of a Sorority Girl?

I hope the audience takes away a chance to be entertained. And that it’s just a movie. 🙂

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

It was a pleasure working with then rest of the cast for this movie. We had some newcomers who were really great and excited to be a part of this movie so that kept the energy up through the long days. I love when actors want to learn more about the process of film making and everything that goes along with it.

What can you tease about your character Journey?

The only thing I can tease about my characters journey is that he maybe falls in love a little too easily. 🙂

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming Secret Life of a Sorority Girl?

One of my favorite moments while filming this movie was when we were shooting in downtown Louisville at an old Gentlemen’s Club and getting to see the history of the place all the while getting to film some pivotal parts of the movie. It’s were Cheryl and Jake first met.

At Survived the Shows, we are big fans of Christmas comedies. What is your all-time favorite?

Love Christmas comedies. Christmas Vacation is probably my favorite! I actually just finished doing a Christmas Rom Com that should be out later in 2024. I’ll be posting about it during the Holidays.

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

For me, the most memorable projects that I’ve worked on are the ones where I’ve met some of my closest friends. Projects are always creations of people’s stories and experiences that allow their expressions of who they are. I’ve been fortunate to connect with some extraordinary souls and still hold them dear to my heart. From indie films to tv series, I can’t say that I have one or two favorite because I truly believe they have all been gifts and I feel honored to have been selected to tell these stories.

Can you tease something about your next projects?

I can! There’s a tv series coming out on Great American Pure Flix called “Shadrach” and is supposed to be coming out sometime over the summer. Another project I have a role in is the biopic of Ronald Reagan called “Reagan” directed by Sean McNamara. The Christmas movie we filmed in Serbia should be out this year as well. I’m also going to be acting and directing a movie over the summer in Columbus, Ohio and will be giving more details on that as we get in production.

Secret Life of Sorority Girl” starring Phili Boyd will premiere on Saturday, April 6th on Lifetime Channel.
