EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Neela Jolene Previews Lifetime’s ‘My Acting Coach Nightmare’!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in My Acting Coach Nightmare?

I play the role of Sienna who is a teenager with dreams to become an actress someday. Sienna takes an acting class which is taught by a coach that has ulterior motives for her.

What initially attracted you to your role in My Acting Coach Nightmare?

I was excited about the role as soon as I read the script. And I was attracted to being able to act out a wide range of emotions. I was able to be sweet, angry, sad, scared, terrified, confused, etc. all in one movie.

What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?

It is a thriller, so it is very suspenseful. I think teenagers watching this movie will be captivated by imagining themselves in my position. And I think parents watching will feel the emotions they would experience with their own children. I think everyone will be captivated by Sienna’s innocence and vulnerability to her teacher’s manipulation.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching My Acting Coach Nightmare?

My mom in the movie teaches us to follow our own instincts. Sienna’s experience teaches us to be sus if things are too good to be true. We all learn how a manipulative person’s mind works. Sienna was manipulated by someone she trusted, so we can all see that it is not easy to recognize the signs and realize that you are a victim. The movie is about a disturbing topic but it is something we should all be aware of.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

OMG everyone there was so happy to be a part of this project. We all laughed a lot and made lots of fun memories while making the movie. It takes a lot of people and coordination to pull everything together, and this particular team worked so well together. I will give a special shout out to the director, Glenn Ciano who made sure everyone was comfortable, and every scene was done to perfection.

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming My Acting Coach Nightmare?

Well I’d have to say that the stunt scene where I break a wine bottle over Max’s head was my favorite experience while filming. I don’t think I’ll ever get to do that again, so I will cherish that forever.

At Survived the Shows, we are big fans of Christmas comedies. What is your all-time favorite?

Well I’ve watched Elf with Will Ferrell countless times so it is the first to pop in my mind. The Christmas Chronicles with Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn is also a huge fav. I really love watching Christmas movies so I have seen them all and I love lots of them.

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

I’ve been a professional actress for 3 years now, and I’ve been blessed to have been cast in a good number of projects. I absolutely love my ongoing job on the DharMann YouTube channel. I’ve made 50+ episodes so far and I hope to make lots more. I also loved my role as Grace on BratTV’s “Junior’s” show. I would also have to include my experience on the Goldbergs as one of my most amazing projects.

Can you tell me something about your next projects?

I have a lead role in an independent film called “House of Karma,” that I’m hoping will come out soon. It is an unusual genre being a comedy horror flick, so that should be interesting. The filming is complete and it’s in the editing stage. Be sure to follow me (https://www.beacons.ai/neelajolene) and I will post news as soon as it is released.
