Can you describe your character’s journey throughout the movie and how he transforms over the course of the story?

MARCO GRAZZINI: At the beginning of the movie, we meet Diego at a very uncertain time in his professional life, as he is trying to secure a contract with another baseball team after he quit in the middle of a championship game due to a panic attack.  With his ex-girlfriend Hazel’s help, he overcomes his insecurities and takes ownership of his anxiety.

If you had to describe Diego using only emojis, which ones would you choose?

GRAZZINI: baseball emoji + nervous emoji + heart emoji ⚾😰❤️

If you could switch roles with any character in “Hearts in the Game,” who would it be and why?

GRAZZINI: JAX!  Such a fun character & dialogue – but I would never come close to the magic that Donia Kash was able to do with Jax.

What’s the funniest thing that happened on set while filming “Hearts in the Game”?

GRAZZINI: All the baseball scenes were filmed during the last week of February in Vancouver, in just below freezing, windy temperatures.  THAT WAS HILARIOUS HAHAHA (you have to laugh to survive sometimes 😐)

What did you enjoy most about working with your co-stars on the film?

GRAZZINI:  Like most rom-coms, this movie was shot in a very intense & short 3 weeks.  Luckily my co-stars were a blast to hang out with: Erin Cahill is a super sweet, energetic and charismatic hero. And Donia Kash, who plays Jax, is effervescent and hilarious, there’s never a boring moment with Donia around!

What do you think is the most important message viewers can take away from the movie?

GRAZZINI: I’m hoping that the movie contributes to the ongoing dialogue and de-stigmatization about mental health. We all deserve the grace to deal with life’s highs & lows through understanding and support – from ourselves, from our friends & family and from society in general.

What do you hope audiences take away from the film, both in terms of entertainment and deeper themes?

GRAZZINI: I hope audiences have a couple laughs and feel connected to the characters.  I think it’s a very energetic & charming film that can surprise you in its more intimate & vulnerable moments.

What do you think makes “Hearts in the Game” different among other romantic comedies?

GRAZZINI: Well, there’s definitely Rom & Com, but our movie is unique in that it touches on grief, anxiety and panic attacks – not usual topics in the rom-com genre.  I think combining all these different notes allows for a unique viewing experience.

Hearts in the Game premieres Saturday April 29th on Hallmark. Watch an exclusive preview below!
