Can you tell us a bit about your character in Two Scoops of Italy?

This American comedy, set entirely in Italy, primarily in Ostia Antica, is where our story takes place. Danielle, played by Hunter King, is a chef who comes to Italy seeking inspiration for her new menu. In Ostia Antica, she encounters my character, Giancarlo, the son of Aldo, who works with his father at Aldo’s Café.

Giancarlo’s dream, which we see right away, is to create new flavors of gelato. This desire is somewhat of an unconscious metaphor for his yearning to break free from a monotonous small-town life. Initially, there’s a bit of a clash, but it quickly turns into a great collaboration between Giancarlo and Danielle as they help each other in their quest for new flavors and ideas.

Of course, there is also a romantic thread in the story, making it a classic Hallmark production. It beautifully captures the essence of Italy and leaves you with a good feeling. Watching our film, I believe you’ll start to think that things can go well in a simple, charming way.

What initially attracted you to your role in Two Scoops of Italy?

I was immediately drawn to this role when I auditioned. I found Giancarlo’s obsession with gelato flavors to be very amusing. There are some really funny dynamics with his father, where Giancarlo is grounded in reality, even though it seems like his sole focus is creating new gelato flavors. However, as I mentioned before, this obsession is actually a metaphor for deeper and more contemporary issues, in my opinion.

I don’t want to get too philosophical, but what initially attracted me in a fun way also made me reflect, paradoxically. I must say, the entire story between him and her isn’t forced; it’s all very tender, perhaps reminiscent of how things might have gone a few years ago, in terms of timing and pace. This aspect of the character and the story immediately captured my interest.
