Can you tell us a bit about your character in Amish Affair?

I play a character called Hannah in Amish Affair. She is a young woman who has been not shunned, but sort of not accepted by her previous community. And so she moves into a new community. And my co star, Ryan McPartlin plays a character called Aaron, and he and his family take Hannah in and she sort of helps them as the wife, Sarah, is ill and needs a caretaker. So that’s kind of how the movie begins, and then they end up forming this relationship that’s a little bit inappropriate. And so the sort of ensuing story is just about how that plays out. And, it’s a really lovely story. It was very special to me. It was my first lead in a movie, so very exciting.

What initially attracted you to your role in Amish Affair?

So, honestly, I would say the character was a little bit daunting to me at first, just because it’s such a different lifestyle than I have. And then the story’s based on true events. So it’s always a little bit scary because you’re trying to do this character justice and not necessarily knowing everything about amish community and that lifestyle. But as I sort of read through the script and chatted with Robin, our director, we sort of started to peel back these layers of Hannah.

And I found a lot of similarities between her and myself. I think that, you know, she’s having a very human experience, which is just the feeling of not being accepted and wanting to be accepted in this new community, which I can totally understand. And then I also think that Hannah, one of the things that really about her as a character initially was that she has very strong morals. She knows what she believes, and she does what she believes is right, and she’s fallible. She’s human. She makes mistakes. And, you know, I like that in characters when they’re just like us, you know?
