Celeste Desjardins and Marcus Rosner star in An Ice Palace Romance, a new, original movie premiering December 14 at 8 p.m. ET/PT as part of the Countdown to Christmas movie line-up on Hallmark Movies Now. We at Survived The Shows had the incredibile chance to chat via email with star Julia Dyan and discuss the movie An Ice Palace Romance and her on-set experience. Check out the full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in An Ice Palace Romance?

My character, Susan, is Lori’s older sister. Her and Lori have been through a lot over the years and all she wants is for her sister to find happiness.

What initially attracted you to your role in An Ice Palace Romance?

When I got the audition sides for Susan I thought “wow what a fun character to play!” and she absolutely was. She is the type of woman who speaks freely and finds the joy and humour in life.

What do you think makes the romance in the movie so special and captivating?

It’s a romance that will for sure tug on your heart strings. In a way you didn’t expect. Watch to find out!

What do you hope audiences take away from watching An Ice Palace Romance?

I hope audiences take away a message of hope from this film. Lori went through a major set back with her skating, and with that her life totally changed course. She trusted her new path… which ultimately led her back to her true love… maybe more than one.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

Working on set with this cast and crew was a gift. Shanna Steele, our mighty director, guided us through the scenes with confidence, ease, supportive guidance, while allowing our true selves to shine through. Celeste Desjardins was a true professional through and through while finding the fun on and off-camera.

What can you tease about your character Journey?

Does Susan drag Lori to Mexico? I’ve already said too much.

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming An Ice Palace Romance?

Filming the scene with Lori (Celeste Dejardins) and Ken (Kiril Mitev) set in a busy Christmas Shopping scene was my favourite scene to shoot, hands down.  There was a natural chemistry between the three of us, that doesn’t always happen right away. They were very generous actors whose performances I had a blast playing off of. Oh and we ate a lot of french fries, that always helps.

Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while filming An Ice Palace Romance and how you overcame them?

No major challenges with this one…. which doesn’t always happen. When things are smooth and simple – ya take it!

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

I have worked on some pretty incredible shows/films over the years. I am an actor as well as a stunt performer here in Toronto. I have been lucky enough to work on shows such as The Boys, What we do in the Shadows, The Umbrella Academy, Designated Survivor, Nurses, and Private Eyes.

Can you tease something about your next projects?

I’ve got some great things coming down the pipe! i will be appearing in a Feature called SHARP CORNER, this film stars Ben Foster, and was shot in Nova Scotia, Canada. And stay tuned for (what I believe will become a horror cult classic) SICK PUPPY, coming out in 2024.
