EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW - Harrison Thomas Teases His Experience on Lifetime's 12 Desperate Hours! - WATCH

What’s the main element in Denny’s character and the movie in general that fascinates you the most and drew you to join 12 Desperate Hours?

HARRISON THOMAS: I’ve always been fascinated with psychology and all of the pieces that make someone the person they are. Is it nature or is it nurture? So, when I read the script I was immediately drawn into the process of seeking out who this character was on a very deep level and trying to bring that to life.

Where are you and Denny most similar and where most different as human beings?

Well… there are very few similarities with the character of Denny and myself. Which I think is a blessing. I’ve been lucky to have parents that love and support me.

To all the fans looking forward to watching the movie, how would you describe 12 Desperate Hours in just 3 words?

12 Desperate Hours

What can you tease about Denny’s journey throughout the movie?

Denny will slowly learn that he has made a mistake. It’s hard to watch someone go so far but he does. Mental illness is really something to not be joked about and Denny (the real person) was not given the proper faculties to handle life. Through family and through brain chemistry.

What’s been the biggest challenge, acting-wise, for you in portraying Denny?

The biggest challenge was making myself internally justify what Denny does. I am a pacifist, but it’s very much about tapping into an unstable mindset and understanding the steps that it would take for someone to snap like this. To me, and of course this is just my opinion… to me – this film is about a short period in time where someone had a psychotic episode. Unfortunately, it’s a true story and this episode was real. So, I don’t take that lightly. There’s a responsibility to portray it correctly.

Talking about the environment on set, how would you describe your experience while filming 12 Desperate Hours and do you have any fun anecdotes to share?

Well, me and Gina came from similar training backgrounds. Sandra SeaCat taught us both, and Greta SeaCat also taught me. So, it was really wonderful to share a common language. We got to nerd out about acting quite a bit, and I got to learn a lot from her.
