We at Survived The Shows had the incredibile chance to chat via email with star Erica Duke and discuss the movie and her on-set experience. Check out the full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in 12 Games of Christmas?

Laurie is Kelsey’s Neighbor who is a workaholic and does not make much time for Christmas. She is someone who always will put work first and will run herself into the ground and not smell the roses.

What initially attracted you to your role in 12 Games of Christmas?

I love the story! It’s a good reminder of what’s important in life. Sometimes we can all get distracted by work and obligations of day to day life. Like Laurie I too am a workaholic so I could relate to her in that way and time can slip away from you.

What do you think makes the romance in the movie so special and captivating?

It’s about reconnecting to people in your life. If it’s friendships, romance or family it’s all about those special bonds that truly matter in life.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching 12 Games of Christmas?

I hope they feel a warm fuzzy glow inside and they too remember what really matters this holiday season.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

I am so lucky I was cast alongside such talented people. The cast and crew that worked on this film are such wonderful caring individuals and we were like family. I always feel so lucky anytime I get cast in a project where I am working alongside great people and I wake up beyond excited to go to work! We all filmed this up in Lake Arrowhead so it was really fun to stay with everyone in a small mountain town and drive into this magical set everyday.

What can you tease about your character Journey?

Without giving too much away we will say Laurie finally gives into the spirit of the holidays and realizes what really is important.

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming 12 Games of Christmas?

This is hard to say because it was truly such a fun film to work on. However I feel super lucky I was able to direct two scenes on our second unit. The amazing director Anthony Ferrante asked if I would be interested in directing the second unit for one of the days on set and I of course said yes! Directing is something I want to do more so it meant a lot to jump behind the camera and help paint the picture of these scenes.

Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while filming 12 Games of Christmas and how you overcame them?  I feel trying to find a balance of Laurie’s character of her wanting to go back home and get to work and giving into the situation they are put in and finally enjoying the moment. Truly getting in her mindset was a bit of a challenge but of course once you become a character more it gets easier.

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

This is always such a hard question for me to answer because I feel every project I have done each has a great memory and story behind it. One of the most growing experiences for me in this industry was writing and directing my own project. I recommend everyone should try it if they are in this field. The amount you will grow as an artist, creative and how much more you will understand every job on set is priceless!

Can you tease something about your next projects?

I have a couple projects in the works right now. One I produced that will be streaming and hitting theatres in a week that is called America is Sinking. Then there is a film I am the lead actress in called Planet Quake  it’s a sci-fi natural disaster film which will be out sometime next year. Then I also have a indie feature film I directed last year that is almost done being edited that will be hitting the festival circuit as well sometime next year called The Unhallowed
