Can you tell us a bit about your characters in Good Burger 2?

We play Cindy and Mindy, the cooks at the Good Burger! We love to be silly and play around on and off the job, which certainly comes in handy when the Good Burger needs saving.

What initially attracted you to your roles in Good Burger 2?

That they were so much fun! We both get the chance to be playful and bounce off of one another as well as the rest of the loveable Good Burger crew. That was really appealing to us and created so many positive and memorable moments on set.

What do you think makes this movie so special?

Good Burger 2 is for everyone. Kids and adults have already fallen in love with the first one, but specifically for adults who have seen Good Burger in their childhood, so many folks come up to us and describe their nostalgia, and share how healing this movie was for them. Good Burger 2 feels like a reunion with friends coming back together for something really special.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching Good Burger 2?

That anything is possible. This movie took 25 years to make, and the writers never gave up hope. From overcoming the pandemic, to scheduling Kenan’s busy timeline, to the writer’s strike, this movie got made. It felt like a miracle, and witnessing that firsthand, we truly know anything is possible.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

This was the most fun we’ve ever had on set, probably because Kenan and Kel set the tone from day one. They made us feel right at home, giving everyone hugs, sharing jokes, and getting to know us all. Everyone had a blast. It is like we joined a long lost family.

What can you tease about your character Journeys?

Cindy and Mindy might be more than expected!!! Hehe.

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming Good Burger 2?

Both of our favorite scene is definitely when the gang gets back together and Ed stands on the table and inspires us all with his speech of literally saying nothing! We couldn’t stop laughing, and in all of the bloopers, you hear us chuckling as if we are our own soundtrack! Kel is just the best.

Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while filming Good Burger 2 and how you overcame them?

Filming during the writer’s strike was certainly a challenge. Even though our movie was cleared and had approval, we had to shut down production due to the strike. Luckily it was only for a few hours, and we were able to manage the lost time, but we were so thankful for our writers blessings, and our director, Phil, who lead with wisdom and kindness despite the many roadblocks in our path. We even had a rapper cancel the day before filming, and rebooking and rescheduling was a haul of an effort from everyone. Seeing the movie makes us so proud because we know how much of an effort it took.

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

Definitely for the both of us, it would have to be The Good Doctor. We played conjoined twins on the show who had to have a separation surgery. It was the first time we played twins that were not stereotypical, wore non-matching clothes, and didn’t talk at the same time. They had their own journeys. It made us feel seen and brought us closer together.

Emily’s favorite solo project was Boy Erased, because not only was the project special, but playing a boy who didn’t know he was trans was a gift to share with audiences- so much of these stories aren’t talked about, so bringing him to screen was an honor.

As for Elizabeth, being on Pen15 was incredible, because watching Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle was a lesson in leadership, acting, and creativity. They are incredible people who love to play and work hard- witnessing that was quite inspiring.

Can you tease something about your next projects?

Although we can’t say anything too official, we are excited for what’s to come together and separately, including sharing some of our own projects we’ve developed with our production company, The Hinklers. Stay tuned for more, and thank you so much!
