ElenaJuatco and Ryan Bruce star in the Christmas movie Mistletoe Match, airing Sunday, December 3 on Lifetime Movie Network. We at Survived The Shows had the chance to chat via email with star Elena Juatco, who shared her experience on Lifetime’s Mistletoe Match and more. Check out full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in Mistletoe Match?

ELENA JUATCO: Olivia is journalist with a passion for investigative reporting and writing since she was young. She loves being competitive and has a sweet tooth for cookies! She also loves Taylor Swift and plaid skirts.

What initially attracted you to your role in Mistletoe Match?

ELENA JUATCO: I was so thrilled to get to finally lead one of this Christmas movies. I’ve been asking for years to do it, and was finally given the opportunity and loved every moment filming it.

What do you think makes the romance in the movie so special and captivating?

ELENA JUATCO: I had an amazing time working with Ryan Bruce and I think it shows on camera. Also in our movie, it isn’t just about Olivia and Thomas. Everyone is searching for love and the ending fills your heart.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching Mistletoe Match?

ELENA JUATCO: Love always finds its way into your heart at Christmas. Be brave and don’t fight it.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

ELENA JUATCO: So many laughs. Our director let us throw in some ad libs, particularly in the speed dating scene. There were lots of inside jokes (Costa Rica!) that we still laugh about to this day.

What can you tease about your character’s journey?

ELENA JUATCO: Just follow the cookies.

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming Mistletoe Match?

ELENA JUATCO: My favourite day was dancing with everyone in the ballroom and they inserted those shots with the closing credits.

Can you tell us about any challenges you faced while filming Mistletoe Match and how you overcame them?

ELENA JUATCO: In the original script, Olivia turned down the Berlin promotion and her job at the paper. It never sat right with me. I talked to the director, rewrote the ending, and it was approved by production! It was a tiny re-write, but it made the ending feel more real and more empowering for me. Christmas was saved!

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

ELENA JUATCO: I just joined the cast of “Surrealestate” on SyFy as Lomax. Working with Tim Rozon, Sarah Levy, and the rest of the incredible cast was such a treat as was filming in beautiful Newfoundland. I also love horror and Lomax’s dry humour. We had a blast.

Can you tease something about your next projects?

ELENA JUATCO: “Surrealestate” recently aired the finale of Season 2, be sure to keep an eye out for me as Lomax in the final 4 episodes!
