On October 14, GAC is airing Destined 2: Christmas Once More, starring Shae Robins and Casey Elliott. We at Survived The Shows had the pleasure of chatting with Director Brittany Wiscombe about her experience in the making of “Destined 2: Christmas Once More and what fans can expect from the movie.

Can you tell us a bit about the storyline of “Destined 2: Christmas Once More”?

A year after they met, Theo is eager to marry Kim. He picks up a ring to propose but is sidetracked by a rush of Christmas traditions and the bustle of the season. It seems like each time he tries to propose, something gets in the way, even to the point of losing the engagement ring. Kim can tell something is wrong, leaving her wondering if her relationship with Theo is as strong as she thinks. Destiny brought them together before and hopefully it can bring them together again for the perfect moment to propose.

What initially attracted you to do a sequel to the story of “Destined at Christmas”?

It was a delight to have this opportunity to do a sequel, mostly because I was excited to be able to continue the journey of these characters. At the same time, it was a different process to write with established characters while still making sure a new audience could understand what was going on if they hadn’t seen the first film; I’m glad I got to go through that.

What do you think makes the action in the movie so special and captivating?

I think the family relationships, like Theo and his daughter Ashley, as well as Kim and Theo’s interactions with their own sides of family, make the movie feel relatable and nostalgic of the joy of family at Christmas. Then the shenanigans Theo has to go through to try to propose and find the ring make for a fun journey.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching “Destined 2: Christmas Once More”?

I hope viewers are lifted up by the holiday spirit of the film and get a chance to revel in the romance and progress the characters make. One takeaway from the film is don’t give up on the ones you love.

What was it like working again with the rest of the cast and crew on set?

It was so nice to work with the cast and crew again; everything went smoothly the first movie and the sequel did too. There was a lot to do and at times it was quite a big undertaking, but the process was enjoyable because everyone was dedicated and supportive of one another.

What can you tease about the characters Journey?

Theo in particular has a lot to learn and juggle this Christmas, but he loves Kim so much that he won’t give up.

What was your favorite scene or moment while directing “Destined 2: Christmas Once More”?

Theo and Kim’s sister-in-law, Vickie, talk honestly about Theo’s desire to propose to Kim, and it’s my favorite because of the mixture of humor, love, frustration and drama.

Can you tease something about your next projects?

An exotic tropical jungle destination will become the backdrop of my next production, and after that I have a Christmas movie with a splash of magic for the 2024 season.
