EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Cass Huckabay Previews Lifetime Movie Network’s My Father’s Murder in Greece!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in My Father’s Murder in Greece ?

Allie is brave, adventurous, she doesn’t take no for an answer. I relate to Allie in a lot of ways, so this character was so easy for me to find my groove in. Allie just wants to know more about her father’s side of the family in Greece, so she is taking time to try and learn some Greek — although it is a work in progress– and she loves a challenge! Allie is just one of those characters that you root for.

What initially attracted you to your role in My Father’s Murder in Greece ?

I am always attracted to a role with action. When I figured out that we would not only be filming in Athens, Greece, but that my character was a rock climber, I thought…”I have to book this.” I love to do stunts in my films, and I always beg to do my own stunts. I did most of my stunts for the film! Some rock climbing, getting ‘tackled over a cliff face’, jumping head first into the Mediterranean Sea in the middle of the night…it was an absolute blast. I love those roles. I had a stunt double for the tallest cliff, and she was an amazing, incredible rock climber.

What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?

I think the team makes this movie really special. Most of the cast and crew were Greek, and I just found the entire experience to be elevated because of the two cultures meeting and working together on this. We were all learning from each other and we were a huge family on set. I think that translates extremely well in the film. You can feel the energy in every second of it because of the chemistry behind and in front of the camera that was happening each day. Everyone showed up and gave 110% energy every day, and I believe an audience can feel that.

What can you tease about your character Journey? What was your favorite scene or moment while filming My Father’s Murder in Greece ?

I think just know that this movie is not what you think it will be. Lifetime has a knack for the twist, but I believe that Allie’s journey in particular will relate to all of those out there who absolutely will not take no for an answer. She will make you want to try new things, travel to new places….and maybe even get into some mystery solving? You’ll just have to find out.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching My Father’s Murder in Greece ?

I hope the audience discovers some BRILLIANT actors while watching this film, and I hope they book a flight to see some of what the beautiful city of Athens has to offer. Go visit some filming locations! Have a Freddo Espresso for me at a cafe, and hike some of the filming locations. You will not regret it.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

When you film with the Greeks, you have no choice but to feel like you are at home. They made me feel like family, and I will cherish every bit of that experience for the rest of my life. I honestly think it translates into the film so well that we had all gotten so close. Those actors; Alexandros Theodoropoulos, Vaggelis Papadakis, Natalia Dragoumi, Nikolas Makris, Giorgos Hatzikiriakos, Margarita Loumaki…you don’t get to work with actors like that every day. They were so honest in their performances and eager to try new things. And they had to memorize an entire script in English and Greek…it was incredible. And when you have behind the scenes friendships like Maeve and I got to have with them, you just get this sense of creative freedom, and everything flows naturally.

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

My career is just getting started, and I am really lucky to have already worked on some incredible things. I mean…memorable? I just shot a movie called Stupid Games in 6 days with the most INCREDIBLE group of people, and two days before that, I had just gotten home from filming a movie called Axes and Os, directed by Trent Duncan. It was a memorable year overall in the world of thriller and horror, and I feel so incredibly fortunate to have gotten to experience back to back filming on 3 projects that gave me such vastly different experiences, while simultaneously all feeling like the best experience yet each time I finished one. I want more of that!

Can you tease something about your next projects?

My next project…the two I mentioned: Stupid Games and Axes and O’s will be the next ones to release. All I will say is get ready to be transported in time to the land of 90s horror. Screams and laughs included. Stupid Games releases Friday March 22nd on Mometu.

My Father’s Murder in Greece” starring Cass Huckabay will premiere on Thursday, March 21th on Lifetime Movie Network.
