Jessica Morris, Brittany McVicker and Phylip Boyd star in the movie Secret Life of Sorority Girl premiering on Lifetime Channel on Saturday April 6th, 2024 at 8/7c. We at Survived The Shows had the incredible chance to talk with star Brittany McVicker, who teased the movie and her experience in Secret Life of Sorority Girl. Check out the full interview below!

Can you tell us a bit about your character in Secret Life of a Sorority Girl ?

I play Sunny, an exotic dancer. It was such a blast playing Sunny because of all the fun clothes and hair; it was just fabulous. There’s this one purple look I’m especially excited about. It’s very Baby Spice.

What initially attracted you to your role in Secret Life of a Sorority Girl ?

Scotty Mullen wrote the script, and anything he writes, I immediately am obsessed with. It was also so far out of my element and day-to-day life; it was a thrill playing Sunny.

What do you think makes this movie so special and captivating?

We shot this movie in Louisville, Kentucky. I think shooting on location in a place like this gives it this grounded essence. We used real locations – like the club was an actual club. It just makes it feel very subversive and authentic.

What do you hope audiences take away from watching Secret Life of a Sorority Girl ?

One of the many reasons I love this career is that I’m given the opportunity to portray so many different types of people from all walks of life. I think this movie captures such an important message about the stigma in the exotic dancing industry. As human beings, we should strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of what they do or where they’re from, is treated with respect, kindness, and decency. It’s also just a fun movie to watch.

What was it like working with the rest of the cast on set?

A dream come true. One of my favorite parts about this job is the people that you meet and the lifelong relationships you cultivate.

What can you tease about your character Journey?

My character, Sunny, dances at the club where Cheryl starts working. She used to be friends with Cheryl’s daughter, Ashley. When the other girls start to isolate Cheryl for asking about her missing daughter, Ashley, my character offers to help Cheryl find her, but for a price.

What was your favorite scene or moment while filming Secret Life of a Sorority Girl ?

Sometimes, when filming club or dance scenes, there’s dialogue, so you can’t have music, and it’s a bit awkward. We shot this one scene in the club with a bunch of extras, and while we were dancing, parts had no dialogue so the DJ could play music. We even got to request songs, and it was honestly just such a blast.

Change of subject, What have been some of the most memorable projects you have worked on throughout your career, and why?

I shot a short film called Just Peachy. It revolves around a young girl trapped in a cycle of addiction and self-sabotage. We’ve been exclusively screening it for incarcerated women and support groups. There’s a genuine opportunity to make a meaningful impact through film, and it’s something I aim to explore further.

Can you tease something about your next projects?

I have a cameo in a film called Break, set to release in select theaters on April 26th. Additionally, I’m starring in a film called Shot Clock, scheduled for release at the end of the year. Lots of exciting things happening!
