Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale) is set to headline The Veil, a limited series thriller from FX Productions that hails from Steven Knight (Peaky BlindersTaboo) and will stream on Hulu.

The Veil will premiere Tuesday, April 30 as a Hulu exclusive, starting with its first two episodes (and followed by four weekly releases, for a total of six episodes).

Described as a “gripping thriller,” The Veil explores the surprising and fraught relationship between two women who play a deadly game of truth and lies on the road from Istanbul to Paris and London. “One woman has a secret, the other a mission to reveal it before thousands of lives are lost. In the shadows, mission controllers at the CIA and French DGSE must put differences aside and work together to avert potential disaster. ” says the synopsis.

Josh Charles, Dali Benssalah, Yumna Marwan Join Elisabeth Moss

Josh Charles (The Good Wife), Dali Benssalah (Canal+’s Savages), and Yumna Marwan (Sky’s Little Birds) have been cast in the upcoming FX limited series “The Veil”. Charles will star as Max, Benssalah as Malik, and Marwan as Adilah.

Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders, Taboo) penned the series and executive-produce it alongside Moss, Denise Di Novi, Nina Tassler and Lindsey McManus.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be telling this story, which is truly international and very contemporary. We have gathered together some of the most talented people in the business. Working with Denise Di Novi is always a pleasure and I’ve wanted to work with Elisabeth Moss for a long time. Of course, FX and I are old friends. I think this will be a landmark television event.”

“We’re excited to continue our partnership with Steven Knight on The Veil and thrilled to have Elisabeth Moss sign on for the lead role. Steven’s scripts are riveting and no doubt will showcase Elisabeth’s exceptional talent.” – FX original programming chief Nick Grad

According to Moss, shooting The Veil was “a lot of fun” but required serious elbow grease as an actress. To prep for playing an MI-6 agent, Moss took on dialect and accent work, research into the real-life inspirations behind the show and “weeks and weeks of fight training.”

“It was much more challenging, given just the amount of skills and different things I had to do with the dialect and the stunts, the fight training, speaking a couple of different languages here and there and the traveling all around the world,” she said.

“It definitely felt like it was, if possible, I had found something even more challenging than Handmaid’s — which is impossible to say,” she said, laughing. “But yeah, to me — to me this was a great time.”
