4 shows to watch if you love heartbreaking finales

My favorite genre is shows and movies with unexpected/heartbreaking finales. I love it when I’m watching something and it doesn’t have a predictable ending! Bonus: if it’s a love story with an unexpected, heartbreaking finale then it’s my favorite title aka La La Land. So, here are 4 shows to watch if you’re ready to be surprised and cry a bit!

Normal People

This is THE show. I don’t even have words to describe it. It’s an adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel of the same name. The fact is, it’s not just the finale that is heartbreaking. It’s the whole damn story! But I promise you’ll love it and you’ll cry, you just have to trust me on this!

Bonus: the two main actors – Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal – have such a chemistry!

Plot: The series follows the relationship between Marianne Sheridan (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Connell Waldron (Paul Mescal), as they navigate adulthood from their final days in secondary school to their undergraduate years in Trinity College.

This one is actually really funny to watch, but it will eventually stab you right in the heart. I’m not going to spoil anything, but I’m just going to say this: season 2 is even better than season 1 – and even more heartbreaking and surprising!

Plot: Fleabag is a young London woman who has a troubled life, due to a dysfunctional family, economic difficulties related to the management of a coffee shop, which she had opened with her late best friend, and her unstable and hectic sex and love life.

Scenes from a Marriage

Prepare your tissues. Be prepared to feel torn, sad, happy, anxious, confused and soo many more emotions! Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain are simply amazing in this. It’s such a raw, real story, it feels a bit too real. The plot says it all…

Plot: The show explores the disintegration of the marriage between Mira and Jonathan.

Conversations with friends

You know why, even before watching it, I was sure this show would break my heart? Because it’s based on a Sally Rooney’s novel, just like Normal People. In my opinion, Normal People is better than this, but that doesn’t mean Conversations with Friends won’t shatter your heart. It will, but in a different way than Normal People.

Plot: The series focuses on four friends in contemporary Dublin: Frances, her ex Bobbi, Melissa and her husband Nick.
